What you'll do

You supply expert-level legal reasoning on energy and utilities regulatory questions for a customer's AI training initiative. That covers rate design, tariff structure and compliance obligations, worked through realistic scenarios from FERC, state PUC and ISO/RTO practice, with the analysis behind your conclusion explained.

The ad puts weight on judgment: identify where a question is unsettled, jurisdictionally contested or dependent on facts that change the answer; review and validate other contributors' work for legal accuracy and clarity; and flag ambiguous or poorly framed scenarios to project coordinators rather than resolving them silently. Work is fully remote contract work, delivered on schedule.

What you need

  • A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active US bar admission
  • 4+ years of substantive energy and utilities regulatory practice (hands-on, not supervisory-only or adjacent exposure), per the ad
  • A corporate law foundation, ideally built at a Vault 100 firm
  • Experience advising utilities, independent power producers or energy regulators on rate design, market structure and regulatory compliance

The ad says you can work from anywhere as long as you hold an active US bar license. That is a licensing requirement, not a residence one, so we have not set a country restriction. No prior AI experience is needed.

What it pays

micro1's card and post page both state "$140 - $4050/hour". The upper figure looks like a typo on the ad, since it is roughly ten times the top of micro1's other attorney bands, so we have not recorded a structured pay range. Confirm the actual rate with micro1 during the interview. The ad does not publish a payment schedule.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A narrow specialty with 50 openings
  • No prior AI experience required
  • Fully remote

Less good:

  • The pay figure is unreliable until confirmed
  • A strict experience bar: four or more years of hands-on regulatory work
  • The process runs screening questions, an AI interview, profile review and onboarding
  • No hours or project length are published
