What you'll do
The project is about how good individual financial advice actually gets made. You review personal planning scenarios and give feedback drawn from your own client work, evaluating investment strategies, retirement plans and recommendations against what the person in the scenario needs. Cases cover savings, investing, debt, tax planning and long-term goals, and you also check planning material for accuracy, regulatory compliance and good practice.
The distinctive part is the pairing. micro1 matches experts in twos, and you discuss cases with another financial professional, compare recommendations and explain why you would advise differently. Expect to explain concepts both in writing and out loud, and to schedule sessions around your partner's availability rather than working fully asynchronously.
Who fits
- Experience advising individual clients or families one-on-one, as a Personal Financial Advisor, Financial Planner, Wealth Manager, Investment Advisor or similar
- Broad planning knowledge: retirement, investments, tax and estate planning, wealth management
- Hands-on experience building personalised plans from a client's goals, risk tolerance and situation
- A good grasp of financial products, portfolio management, asset allocation and the relevant regulations
- The ability to explain financial ideas plainly
- Comfort collaborating live with another expert, during overlapping North American or Latin American hours
No certification (CFP or otherwise) and no minimum years are named. Institutional-only backgrounds without direct client work are a weaker fit, since client experience is the point. No AI experience is needed.
What it pays
$90–110/hour, micro1's published band. The narrow $20 spread makes the offer fairly predictable. The ad does not say whether pay is hourly or per task, or how many paired sessions are on offer each week.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 45 openings
- Tight pay band with a solid floor
- Open across North and Latin America rather than one country
- Discussing cases with a peer is closer to real practice than solo grading
Less good:
- Paired work means scheduling around someone else, which limits flexibility
- Expect verbal work, so calls or recordings rather than written tasks only
- No hours, project length or compensation structure published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal on 13 October 2026 and read on 18 October 2026. The $90–110/hour band, the 45 openings and the scope above are its published text. Location is given as "Northern America, Latin America", a region rather than a country list, so we have left eligibility open; check that your country is covered when you apply. Payment schedule and method are not published on the listing. micro1 runs country-specific versions of a similar brief on the same band: Personal Finance Expert (UK) and Personal Finance Expert (Canada).
