Circuit Design Expert

Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

This is the scripted, tool-driven electrical role. You turn circuit requirements into netlists or hardware descriptions (or modify existing ones), run simulation, synthesis or verification from the command line, and interpret the results. You then check AI-generated circuit solutions, calling out faulty assumptions, invalid configurations and unsupported conclusions, and assess component choices, tolerances, failure modes and design trade-offs. You explain circuit behaviour and your decisions in writing.

Compared with the general Electrical Engineering Expert role, which centres on problems, rubrics and head-to-head grading, this one asks you to run tools yourself. The work is remote, with calibration and review sessions.

Who fits

  • A BS in electrical engineering plus 1–2 years of circuit-design experience
  • Experience with at least one EDA, circuit-simulation, PCB or HDL tool that supports scripting or a programmatic interface (the ad gives ngspice, Xyce, Yosys, Verilator and KiCad scripting as examples)
  • A strong understanding of circuit behaviour and design trade-offs
  • Clear written English
  • Preferred: mixed-signal or RF design, Python, and high-speed digital or power-electronics experience

What it pays

Rex.Zone's listing states USD $80–150 per hour, "adjusted by country of residence". The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply where you live. The listing gives no payment method or payout schedule; the Rex.Zone company page covers what is known. The experience bar is lower than the general electrical role (1–2 years rather than a Master's, PhD or 4+ years), yet the ceiling is $30 higher; the ad does not explain the difference.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A low experience bar for a $150 ceiling
  • Open-source tools such as ngspice, Yosys and Verilator all count, so you do not need a paid licence
  • No location restriction in the ad

Less good:

  • The tooling requirement (scripted EDA workflows) rules out people who only use GUI schematic tools
  • Export-controlled, military or defence-related data and employer-owned designs cannot be submitted
  • Pay is adjusted by country of residence, method unpublished
  • Weekly hours and task volume are not stated

About this listing

Read on Rex.Zone's expert portal on 29 October 2026; the pay, requirements and duties are Rex.Zone's own text. The portal marks its listings as open to verified users only, and the ad does not name the end customer. See Rex.Zone.
