Skills
  • chemistry
  • problem writing
  • expert solutions
  • benchmark writing
  • technical writing

What you'll do

You author chemistry problems, not answer them from a bank. Each task is one original, challenging problem plus a correct, expert-level solution written out in full. The ad says the problems are for "leading technology and research teams" and does not name the customer or say which model they feed, so treat the exact use as unconfirmed. In practice this is the problem-writing side of AI benchmark work: the hard part is making a question difficult enough to matter while being certain your own solution is right.

Every task is reviewed for accuracy and quality before it is approved, so expect feedback and possible rework.

Who fits

  • A completed or in-progress PhD in Chemistry, or a completed Master's in Chemistry
  • Enough depth in a sub-field to invent problems that are not textbook exercises
  • Comfort writing a complete, checkable solution rather than just a final answer

What it pays

Terac's board lists $70 per task, and each task takes up to 4 hours. That is the lowest of Terac's four chemistry listings with this text, which pay $70, $77, $112 and $160 per task; check the sister listings before you commit. Why the rates differ is not explained.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Open to PhD students, not only completed doctorates
  • Remote, written work you can do on your own schedule
  • Worldwide location, no country restriction listed

Less good:

  • The lowest rate of the four identical listings
  • Application involves a screening interview and an onboarding assessment before any paid work
  • Review before approval means a task can be sent back
  • Valid through 16 December 2026
