Terac says the problems are for leading technology and research teams working on advanced chemistry projects; it does not say which teams or what the problems train or test. The skill being paid for is judgment about difficulty: a problem that is too easy is useless, one with a flawed solution is worse.

A reviewer checks accuracy and quality before each task is approved.

Who fits

• PhD in Chemistry, completed or in progress, or a completed Master's in Chemistry
• Command of a field deep enough to write fresh problems in it
• Care with derivations and units, since the solution is the product

Terac's board lists $77 per task, and each task is a self-contained problem of up to 4 hours. That puts it just above the $70 version of this listing and under the $112 and $160 ones, all with identical text. The ad gives no reason for the spread.

Worth knowing

Good:

• PhD students qualify, not just graduates

Less good:

• Pay is per approved task, so the hourly equivalent depends on how fast you work
• A screening interview and onboarding assessment come first and are not paid, as far as the ad says
• Reviewed tasks can be rejected or sent back
