What you'll do
You judge educational material the way an experienced assessment designer would: is the quiz item correct, is it appropriate for the learner it targets, and does the tutoring exchange build understanding or just hand over the answer? That last question is the centre of the project. The ad stresses durable understanding over "rote answer provision", which is exactly the failure mode of AI tutors that solve the problem for the student.
Beyond reviewing, you apply and improve assessment rubrics and grading criteria, give written feedback on academic rigour and fit for diverse learners, and work on visual and multimodal teaching resources. Your observations feed into the customer's AI-driven education tools.
Who fits
- Substantial experience as an instructional designer, learning scientist, assessment specialist or educator in K-12, higher education or edtech
- A record of designing, evaluating or delivering tutoring, quizzes, formative assessments or interactive media
- Sound judgment on academic correctness, learner appropriateness and developmental value
- Hands-on work building or applying rubrics, outcome measures or grading systems
- Experience making visual, interactive or multimodal learning materials
- Precise written and verbal communication for remote feedback
No prior AI experience is required. micro1 strongly prefers availability aligned with US Pacific Time.
What it pays
micro1 publishes $90–130/hour, high for education work and in line with its senior expert listings. It does not say what places you in the band, and no pay structure, weekly hours or project length are stated.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A rate well above most teaching and instructional design work
- 50 openings, flagged high demand
- Teachers, assessment writers and edtech designers all qualify
- The focus on genuine learning rather than answer-giving is a meaningful problem to work on
Less good:
- "Extensive experience" is not quantified, so the real bar is unclear
- The Pacific Time preference may disadvantage applicants in Europe or Asia
- Multimodal resource work may ask for design skills some educators lack
- No hours, duration or start date published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its referral jobs board and read on 18 October 2026. The pay band, 50 openings and qualifications are micro1's own text. The location line says "Remote - USA Preferred", which is a preference rather than a requirement, so we have left eligibility open. Payment schedule and visa terms are not published on the listing.
It sits close to micro1's Educator/ Assessor Writer listing ($90–140/hour), which centres on writing assessments; this one centres on evaluating learning interactions and tutoring content. See micro1.
