Skills
  • hospitalist experience
  • internal medicine
  • pediatrics
  • family medicine
  • board certification
  • chart review

What you'll do

You read adult inpatient medical records, both raw FHIR data and the clinical notes built on it, and decide whether the clinical information and claims made about a patient are actually supported by the chart. The documents are the ones a hospitalist writes every day: HPI, PMH, medication reconciliation, social history, assessments and plans.

The errors you are hunting are specific. The ad names renal- and hepatic-adjusted dosing, medication interactions and age-appropriate clinical details, alongside anything missing, incorrect or inconsistent. You apply a written guideline the same way every time and send feedback that improves both the model and the data. In practice this is close to chart audit or clinical documentation improvement work, done for a model rather than a coder.

Who fits

  • MD or DO, board certified in Internal Medicine (or Internal Medicine with a Hospital Medicine focused practice designation)
  • At least 5 years of hospitalist experience
  • Current or recent inpatient hospitalist work, within the last 2 years
  • A working grasp of admission notes, daily progress notes, transitions of care and discharge documentation
  • Comfort reading raw medical record data, not just finished notes
  • Chart review, CDI, utilization review or medical coding/QA experience is a plus

The ad also lists pediatrics and family medicine among its required skills, though the scope and qualifications describe adult internal medicine. Expect internists to be the core of the pool.

What it pays

micro1 publishes $80–125/hour for this listing. It does not say what places you within the band, and it does not state a pay structure, weekly hours or project length.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 50 openings, flagged new and high demand
  • The task is tightly defined and uses skills a hospitalist already has
  • Fully remote; reviewing charts fits around clinical shifts
  • No AI background asked for

Less good:

  • Limited to the United States
  • The five-year hospitalist bar and the two-year recency requirement rule out many outpatient internists
  • Chart verification against a fixed guideline is repetitive
  • No hours, duration or start date published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage

About this listing

Posted by micro1 on its referral jobs board and read on 18 October 2026. The pay band, the 50 openings, the United States location and every qualification above are micro1's own text. Payment schedule and visa terms are not published on the listing.

The task matches micro1's other hospitalist chart-review listings, such as Family Medicine Hospitalist on the same $80–125 band; this one is titled for any US-licensed physician, names a United States location requirement, and asks specifically for internal medicine board certification.
