Chemistry Expert
Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted
What you'll do
You write difficult chemistry questions and then judge how well an AI model answers them. Each answer is checked for scientific accuracy, logical consistency and chemical validity, and you write the reference response the model is measured against, with the reasoning spelled out (reaction mechanisms, experimental design, reading data). You also review questions and solutions from other experts, and document where a model's reasoning went wrong and what the correct route is.
This is the research-leaning chemistry listing on Rex.Zone. It asks for breadth across organic, inorganic, physical, analytical and computational chemistry, where the Chemistry Specialist ad asks for depth in one of them and the Chemist ad asks for lab and industry practice.
Who fits
- A PhD in chemistry or a closely related field; doctoral candidates and postdocs are explicitly accepted
- Or a Master's degree plus 4+ years of professional experience
- Solid grounding across the core subdisciplines (organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, computational)
- Excellent written English, and the discipline to work independently to deadlines
- Preferred: publications, peer-review or curriculum-development experience, earlier AI or annotation work, and practice writing for non-specialists
What it pays
Rex.Zone states USD $50–150 per hour, adjusted by country of residence. The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply where you live; treat $150 as the ceiling for the strongest profiles rather than the expected rate. The ad also does not say whether pay is by hour logged or by task, how often you are paid, or by what method.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Open worldwide with no country restriction listed
- A wide band, and the PhD-or-postdoc bar suits people already in academia
- Mechanism-level reasoning is the product, so the work uses real chemical judgement
- Calibration and review sessions are built in, so quality standards are explicit
Less good:
- The rate is adjusted by country and the adjustment is not published
- Content rules are strict: you must never write or submit routes, formulations or quantities for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive weapons or illicit drugs, and you must stop and report any task that contains them. Safety answers stay at general hazard awareness, and Rex can reject or remove a submission that breaks the rules
- You must have the right to share everything you submit, so nothing confidential from an employer or client
- Payment depends on verification and on sanctions, export-control, tax and employment rules, and the contractor agreement covering ownership and licence terms was still marked "to be confirmed by Rex Legal"
About this listing
Posted on the Rex.Zone expert portal (also RemoExperts) on 2 October 2026 and read from the portal on 29 October 2026. The pay band, qualifications and responsibilities are Rex.Zone's own text. The portal lists no skills for this role, and the ad does not say how many hours a week to expect. Applications go through the portal, which sits behind an entry exam and verified-user checks described on the company page. See Rex.Zone.
