Chemistry Specialist

Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

You work inside one area of chemistry, whichever of organic, inorganic, physical, analytical or computational you know best. You write and review questions in that area, assess AI answers for correctness and explain the errors, and write reference answers with clear mechanistic or quantitative reasoning. You also review other experts' questions for difficulty and accuracy and give structured written feedback.

The difference from the other two chemistry roles is focus. The Chemistry Expert listing wants breadth across all the subdisciplines, and the Chemist listing wants lab and industry practice. This one wants demonstrated depth in a single subdiscipline and the ability to explain complex chemistry clearly.

Who fits

  • A Master's or PhD in chemistry with demonstrated expertise in at least one subdiscipline
  • Ability to explain complex chemistry in clear writing
  • Excellent written English and reliable, independent working to deadlines
  • Preferred: research publications in your subdiscipline, teaching experience, and experience with computational chemistry tools

What it pays

Rex.Zone states USD $50–90 per hour, adjusted by country of residence. That is the lowest ceiling of the three chemistry roles (the Chemist ad tops out at $125, the Chemistry Expert ad at $150), so a specialist who also has the breadth for the Expert listing may do better applying there. The adjustment method, payment method and pay frequency are not stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Open worldwide with no country restriction listed
  • A Master's alone qualifies, with no years of experience stated
  • You stay in the subfield you know, which keeps the questions credible
  • Calibration and review sessions give you clear quality expectations

Less good:

  • The lowest band of the three chemistry roles
  • Country adjustment is unexplained
  • Content rules are strict: nothing on routes, formulations or quantities for weapons or illicit drugs, and safety answers stay at general hazard awareness. Breaches can be rejected or removed
  • Payment depends on verification and on sanctions, export-control, tax and employment rules, and the contractor agreement covering ownership and licence terms was still marked "to be confirmed by Rex Legal"

About this listing

Posted on the Rex.Zone expert portal (also RemoExperts) on 2 October 2026 and read from the portal on 29 October 2026. The pay band, qualifications and responsibilities are Rex.Zone's own text. The portal lists no skills for this role, and the ad does not say how many hours a week to expect. Applications go through the portal, which sits behind an entry exam and verified-user checks described on the company page. See Rex.Zone.
