Mechanical CAD Expert
Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted
What you'll do
You open multi-part mechanical assemblies in native CAD files and work out how the components relate and why the design is built the way it is. For each assembly you write detailed technical questions covering function, design rationale and dimensions, then check AI answers to those questions and explain any errors. You also review and improve geometric representations of assemblies and write your reasoning down clearly enough to be used as training data.
Of Rex.Zone's three CAD listings this is the assembly-comprehension one: the output is questions, answers and written reasoning about existing designs, not new models. The work is remote, with the usual calibration and review sessions.
Who fits
- A background in mechanical engineering, aerospace or industrial design with strong applied CAD knowledge
- The ability to read engineering drawings and interpret complex assemblies
- Experience with FreeCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA or Inventor (any one is named)
- Fluent written English
- Preferred: CSWP or CSWE certification, GD&T knowledge, aerospace or manufacturing design experience
No minimum years of experience are stated.
What it pays
Rex.Zone's listing states USD $40–80 per hour, "adjusted by country of residence". The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply where you live. The listing gives no payment method or payout schedule; the Rex.Zone company page covers what is known. It has the lowest floor of the engineering roles in this group, matching the FreeCAD Data Generation specialist at $40.
Worth knowing
Good:
- No stated years-of-experience minimum, and four CAD tools are accepted
- Reading and questioning real assemblies is closer to design review than to data entry
- No location restriction in the ad
Less good:
- Lower pay than the general CAD Expert role, which asks for a degree and states $80–150
- You cannot submit export-controlled, military or defence-related technical data, or anything under a confidentiality agreement, so assemblies from past employers are off limits
- Rex.Zone may ask for evidence of ownership or licence and can reject or remove submissions
- Weekly hours are not stated
About this listing
