Assamese Language Expert

What you'll do

Assamese is a low-resource language for AI, so the value of this role is that the model has little good data to learn from. You read AI-generated Assamese, judge fluency, grammar, spelling, tone and meaning, catch mistranslations and hallucinated claims, and rank responses. You also write rewrites and model answers across everyday domains: general knowledge, customer support, education and conversational writing.

The ad singles out register (formal versus informal), regional variation within Assam and the difference between India-facing and diaspora audiences.

Who fits

  • Native or near-native Assamese, reading and writing
  • English at C1 or above, to follow guidelines and give feedback in English
  • Three or more years in writing, editing, localisation, translation, content QA, journalism or education
  • A degree in linguistics, Assamese or English literature, communications, journalism or translation, or equivalent experience
  • Deep understanding of Assamese grammar, spelling and punctuation, with the ability to explain why something is wrong

Earlier AI data training, translation QA or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.

The role is open to applicants in Bangladesh, Bhutan and India.

What it pays

SME's listing says up to $15 an hour with no floor. The Assamese Team Lead role on the same board goes to $30, twice as much, and is open in the same three countries. The listing does not state how or when you are paid; the company page covers SME's Deel payout cycle.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Work in a language the major AI labs have few reviewers for
  • A clear step up exists to the Team Lead role
  • Cultural and regional nuance is part of the brief

Less good:

  • The $15 ceiling is modest for a role asking for three years of experience
  • No immediate-project note appears on this ad, and it does not say how much work to expect
  • Eligible countries are Bangladesh, Bhutan and India only
