Economics Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)
What you'll do
You supervise the quality of economics content that trains AI models. That means reading AI-generated explanations, calculations, graphs, policy analyses and data interpretations and testing them for wrong formulas, shaky causal claims, misleading graphs and unsupported policy conclusions. The ad adds a specific risk duty: flag claims that are overconfident, politically biased, statistically weak or stated without assumptions.
The rest of the week is team upkeep. You give feedback to trainers and QAs, post guideline changes on Discord, answer questions on models and assumptions, follow up with inactive contributors, run onboarding calls, and maintain the economics style guide, FAQs, honeypots and calibration tasks.
Who fits
- A bachelor's, master's or PhD in economics, applied economics, econometrics, public policy, finance, statistics, mathematics or a related quantitative or social science field
- 3+ years in economics research, teaching, policy analysis, consulting, data analysis or econometrics
- Command of micro and macroeconomics, market structures, elasticity, externalities, fiscal and monetary policy, trade, growth and basic econometric reasoning
- Able to apply detailed rubrics and spot flawed causal reasoning or poor data interpretation
- Strong written English
Preferred: regression and causal inference, Excel, R, Python or Stata, and experience leading remote teams. AI training or LLM evaluation experience is a plus. Open to applicants in India and the US. The ad describes the selection process as an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter.
What it pays
The ad states pay of up to $90 an hour. It gives no floor and does not say what decides where in that range an individual lands. The ad does not describe payment terms; SuperAnnotate's company page covers the Deel contract, paid bootcamp and monitoring software that apply across its hourly projects.
Worth knowing
Good:
- High ceiling among the QAL listings in this batch
- Draws on academic and policy experience, not only industry work
- Access to future projects through the expert network
Less good:
- The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified candidates are among the first contacted when a relevant one opens, so this is a talent-pool listing rather than a seat with guaranteed work.
- Substantial coordination and documentation duties alongside the review work
- Only two countries accepted
