Assamese Team Lead
What you'll do
This is the supervisory seat on Assamese projects. Instead of reviewing model output alone you oversee the trainers and QAs who do, spot-checking their items, giving feedback in direct messages and answering Discord questions about wording, register, translation fidelity and cultural context. You also write and maintain the project documentation, including style guides, FAQs, trackers and honeypots, run onboarding calls, and follow up with contributors who have stopped working.
Compared with the expert role, more of your day is communication and process, less of it is reading Assamese text line by line.
Who fits
- A bachelor's or master's in Assamese, linguistics, translation, communications, journalism, English, education or QA
- Native or near-native Assamese with strong reading and writing, and good English for guidelines and feedback
- Three or more years in Assamese writing, editing, translation, localisation, content QA, AI training or annotation
- Command of Assamese grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register and cultural context
- Experience leading remote teams is strongly preferred
LLM evaluation, prompt and response review or rubric-based QA experience is a strong plus.
The role is open to applicants in Bangladesh, Bhutan and India.
What it pays
SME's listing says up to $30 an hour, with no floor. That is twice the $15 ceiling on the Assamese Language Expert role and $5 above the Bengali Team Lead ceiling ($25). The listing does not state how or when you are paid; the company page covers SME's Deel payout cycle.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Double the ceiling of the expert seat in the same language
- Leadership and documentation experience
- Small language community, so skills are scarce
Less good:
- Selection includes an AI interview, a domain task and a recruiter interview
- No immediate-project note on this ad, so the listing does not say when work starts
- Eligible countries are Bangladesh, Bhutan and India only
About this listing
Posted on SME Careers (sme.careers), where SuperAnnotate hires subject matter experts, and read on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date. The duties, requirements and pay are SME's own text; the comparisons and commentary are ours. The interview, Deel contract, bootcamp and time tracking are covered on the company page rather than repeated here. The ad says selection involves an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter. See SuperAnnotate.
