Bulgarian Language Expert

What you'll do

You are the native-speaker check on how well a model writes Bulgarian. For each task you read AI output, mark errors in meaning, grammar, spelling, tone and register, rewrite weak passages into the version a careful Bulgarian writer would produce, and rank several responses against each other. You also create prompts and reference answers across everyday domains such as customer support, education, translation and localization.

The ad lists the failure modes it cares about: wrong definite articles, verb-aspect mistakes, Cyrillic and Latin script mixups, and phrasing that sounds like a Russian or English calque. Explaining why something is wrong, not just fixing it, is part of the job.

Who fits

  • Native or near-native Bulgarian with strong reading and writing
  • A degree in linguistics, Bulgarian, translation, journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA or similar language work
  • English at C1 or above, as guidelines and feedback are in English
  • Preferred: earlier AI training, translation QA or rubric-based evaluation

Applicants must be in Bulgaria; the ad lists no other country.

What it pays

SME lists up to $20 an hour with no floor stated, so treat it as a ceiling. It sits below SME's Bulgarian Team Lead listing at up to $25. The ad does not state a payment method or schedule; SME's general terms are on the SuperAnnotate company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Native-language work with a clear grammar-focused rubric
  • A small language market, so there may be fewer qualified applicants
  • A visible step up to the team lead role

Less good:

  • A modest ceiling for a role that asks for a degree or equivalent and 3+ years of experience
  • Bulgaria-only eligibility, and the ad gives no hours or project length
  • Multiple-register judgment calls (formal to conversational) can be subjective
