Catalan Language Expert

What you'll do

You evaluate how naturally and correctly models write Catalan. Each task has you read AI output, catch errors in meaning, grammar, spelling, register and regional usage, rewrite the weak parts, and rank competing responses. You also build prompts and gold-standard answers across subjects such as customer support, education, conversation, translation and localization.

The standard varies by project. The ad expects you to handle standard Catalan, Valencian and Balearic usage, formal and informal registers, and the expectations of audiences in Spain, Andorra and the diaspora. Spotting Castilian-influenced phrasing and false friends is a named skill.

Who fits

• Native or near-native Catalan with strong reading and writing
• A degree in linguistics, Catalan philology, translation, journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA or similar language work
• English at C1 or above
• Preferred: AI training, translation QA or rubric-based evaluation

Applicants in France and Spain are listed. The board gives Spanish as the interview language.

What it pays

Worth knowing

Good:

• Catalan is a smaller market, so a native reviewer may face less competition
• Regional-variation judgment makes it more interesting than generic proofreading
• France and Spain are both open

Less good:

• A mid-range ceiling for a degree-level language role
• Hourly work is tracked, and the ad gives no hours or project length
• Standard versus Valencian choices can be subjective across projects
