Java Team Lead

What you'll do

You review what AI models and trainers produce in Java: correctness, whether it compiles, runtime behavior, object design, API usage, security and tests. The ad lists Spring Boot snippets, debugging answers and architecture explanations among the items. You flag hallucinated APIs and unsafe or non-production-ready advice, maintain the Java guide and calibration tasks, run onboarding and follow up with inactive contributors.

Who fits

• Degree in computer science, software engineering or IT, or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years in Java development, backend engineering, JVM systems, code review or mentoring
• Command of OOP, collections, generics, streams, concurrency and JVM behavior
• Strong English for technical feedback
• Preferred: Spring Boot, Maven or Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, JPA, Docker, CI/CD

What it pays

The ad states up to $70 an hour, hourly, $15 above the Java engineer listing at $55. The listing does not state payment terms; how SuperAnnotate pays (Deel contracts, weekly cycle) is on the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Higher ceiling than the engineer role
• Lower years threshold (3) than the engineer role (5)
• Calibration and mentoring experience is relevant to other lead jobs

Less good:

• Open to US-based applicants only, unlike the Java engineer role open in 17 countries
• No immediate project
• Leading remote reviewers is part of the job

About this listing

The ad describes a three-step selection: an AI interview, a domain task, and a recruiter interview. The ad says there is no immediate project: qualifying puts you on the list SME contacts first when work arrives, so a successful application may not mean paid work straight away. The board gives no posting date and we have not seen the project guidelines. The hiring process and time-tracking rules are on the company page and not repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
