Life & Environmental Sciences Team Lead
What you'll do
The scope runs from biology and ecology to climate, conservation and sustainability. You review AI explanations for biological accuracy, ecological nuance, flawed causal reasoning and misleading data interpretation, and you flag unsafe field or experiment recommendations and unsupported environmental claims.
Team duties are standard for an SME lead: spot-checks, Discord updates, questions from trainers, chasing inactive contributors, onboarding calls, documentation. One oddity: the responsibilities list ends with a line reading "Native fluency in Punjabi", which the ad does not explain; we have listed Punjabi alongside English, so confirm on the application whether it is required. The ad does not name an interview language.
Who fits
- Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or equivalent experience in biology, environmental science, ecology, conservation, earth science, public health, agriculture, marine science or sustainability
- Strong English for guidelines and feedback
- 3+ years in life science research, environmental science, teaching, fieldwork, lab work or science communication
- Command of ecosystems, biodiversity, evolution, genetics, climate and scientific method
- Ability to spot oversimplified ecology and unsupported claims
Nice to have
- GIS, statistics, impact assessment or climate datasets
- Leading remote teams (strongly preferred)
- AI training or LLM evaluation experience
What it pays
The ad states up to $20 an hour, a ceiling. That is low for a lead role with a science degree, and the lowest lead ceiling in this batch. The listing does not publish payment terms; the process and payout details are on the company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Science QA is an uncommon niche
- Equivalent professional experience can replace a degree
- Wide topic range
Less good:
- Up to $20 for a lead is thin
- India only
- The unexplained Punjabi line adds uncertainty
- No project mentioned; monitored hourly pay
