Malay Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

What you'll do

This is the lead step above the Malay Language Expert and, unlike it, is limited to Malaysia. You review AI-generated Malay and the work of trainers and QAs, spot-check items, and answer contributor questions on tone, register, terminology, code-switching and regional usage.

The usual lead duties apply: Discord updates, chasing inactive contributors, onboarding calls and style guides, trackers and honeypots. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are first in line when a relevant project opens, and the role gives access to future projects through the expert network. Selection is an AI interview, a domain task and a recruiter interview.

Who fits

• Bachelor's or Master's in Malay, linguistics, translation, communications or related
• Native or near-native Malay
• Strong English
• 3+ years in Malay writing, editing, translation, localisation, content QA, AI training or annotation
• Strong grasp of Malay tone, register and cultural context
• Rubric-based review

Nice to have

• Leading remote teams (strongly preferred)
• AI training or LLM QA experience

What it pays

The ad states up to $25 an hour, a ceiling, $5 above the Malay expert listing. The listing does not publish payment terms; the process and payout details are on the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Higher ceiling than the expert variant
• Code-switching expertise valued
• Clear selection steps

Less good:

• Malaysia only
• No project open yet
• Admin heavy
• Monitored hourly pay
