Mechanical Engineer

What you'll do

You check whether an AI model solves engineering problems the way a competent mechanical engineer would. That means verifying methodology, assumptions, units and dimensional consistency, and whether the answer is physically plausible. The subject base is statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and differential equations. You write model solutions, explain corrections in writing and rank competing responses. The work is remote and hourly.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or engineering physics
  • Confident fundamentals in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, applied physics and system modeling
  • Experience applying design principles such as requirements, constraints, margins and trade-offs
  • English at C1 or above

AI data training or technical reviewing experience is strongly preferred. The ad sets no years of experience.

What it pays

The ad says up to $70 an hour. The Mechanical Engineer QA Lead role pays up to $75. Both are ceilings and the ad does not state a typical rate. Payment terms and the hiring process are covered on the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Rewards fundamentals, not specific software
  • Strong ceiling for a role with no stated years requirement
  • Open in 17 countries

Less good:

  • The country list covers mostly South and Southeast Asia, Brazil, Germany and the US
  • The ad does not say if a project is running now
  • Hours are not published
