SQL Engineer

What you'll do

You review AI-written SQL queries, database designs and data-processing logic, and write reference solutions with explanations. The ad points at query structure, indexing and methodology errors, and expects fluency with window functions, query-plan analysis, performance tuning and concurrency or locking issues. You rank competing responses and explain what separates a correct answer from a plausible one.

Who fits

• 7+ years of production SQL as a database engineer, SQL developer or data engineer
• Expert SQL: complex joins, window functions, aggregation, query plans
• Performance tuning, indexing and locking troubleshooting
• Relational and warehouse modelling (star and snowflake schemas) and ETL/ELT experience
• A Bachelor's in a technical field and C1 English

The listing is open in 17 countries, mostly in South and Southeast Asia plus Brazil, Germany and the United States.

What it pays

The ad lists up to $50 an hour and no minimum. That is the lowest of the engineer listings here despite the highest experience bar (7+ years), while the SQL Team Lead listing goes to $70 but is US-only. Payment method and timing are not set out in the listing; the SuperAnnotate company page covers the contracting setup.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Open to 17 countries
• Data skills are widely portable
• Clear technical rubric: queries run or they do not

Less good:

• The ad states there is no immediate project for this role; qualified people are first in line when a relevant project opens, and the role also gives access to the wider expert network. Expect a wait rather than a start date.
• Seven years of experience for a $50 ceiling is a steep ask
• Pay is an upper bound, not a promise
