TypeScript Team Lead

What you'll do

The TypeScript team lead (QAL) reviews AI-written code and the work of trainers and QAs against project rubrics. The ad's criteria are concrete: code correctness, type safety, runtime behavior, debugging accuracy, performance, security awareness and test coverage.

Responsibilities beyond reviewing include answering questions on generics, strict mode, async logic and browser versus Node environments, flagging unsafe casts and insecure dependency use, running onboarding, keeping style guides and calibration tasks up to date, and prodding inactive contributors. The ad says selection involves an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role. If you qualify you are placed among the first experts contacted when a relevant project opens, so this is a waiting list for future work, not a start date.

What you need

  • A bachelor's or master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 3+ years in TypeScript, JavaScript, frontend, Node.js, full-stack, code review, software QA or technical mentoring
  • Strong grasp of core TypeScript: generics, unions, narrowing, mapped and conditional types, strict mode
  • Strong JavaScript runtime knowledge: promises, async/await, the event loop, closures
  • Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics
  • Strong English for guidelines and technical feedback

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Node.js, React, Next.js, Express or NestJS, Jest, Vitest, ESLint, Vite or Webpack
  • Experience leading remote teams of trainers or QAs
  • AI training or rubric-based LLM evaluation experience

Where it is open

The listing accepts applicants in the United States only, a narrower list than the 17-country TypeScript Engineer role.

What it pays

SME Careers lists this role at up to $70 an hour. That is a ceiling, not a rate: the ad does not say what a typical contractor earns, or how hours are allocated. It does not state payment terms either; SuperAnnotate's general process (Deel contracts, a paid bootcamp, tracked hourly work) is covered on the company page. This is $10 above the TypeScript Engineer ceiling of $60 and the second highest in this batch.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • One of the highest ceilings in the batch
  • Review plus coaching, so it builds leadership experience
  • Equivalent experience can substitute for the degree

Less good:

  • US-only eligibility
  • Three-stage selection and no open project yet
  • A lot of coordination work on top of code review
  • The ceiling is not a guaranteed rate

About this listing

Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long the role has been open. The interview, onboarding and time-tracking process is on the company page rather than repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
