Finance & Accounting Expert

What you'll do

You build benchmark tasks from real finance and accounting work: FP&A analysis, financial reporting, audit procedures and reconciliations. Each task comes with realistic reference files and clear instructions, and with grading criteria precise enough that two qualified reviewers reach the same verdict.

The tasks should require judgment, so the right answer turns on reading the materials correctly. You create or source the files, such as spreadsheets, GL extracts, financial statements and policy documents, and you flag any task that turns out ambiguous or ungradable.

What you need

  • 5+ years of hands-on responsibility in FP&A, financial reporting, audit, reconciliations or accounting, as direct owner rather than supervisory-only
  • Experience creating or applying structured review standards: audit programs, review or close checklists, grading rubrics or training assessments
  • Strong Excel and comfort reasoning across multiple documents at once
  • Strong written English

Nice to have

  • CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA or an equivalent (a plus, not required)
  • AI or LLM evaluation experience (a plus, not required)

What it pays

micro1 states $40–90/hour, which is $5 lower at the bottom than its sibling expert listings at $45–90. The snapshot says "up to $90/hour equivalent" at about ten hours per task, and that the engagement is project-based and paid per approved task, so the hourly figure is an equivalent rather than a guaranteed rate.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • No prior AI experience is needed; the ad says domain knowledge is what matters
  • Fully remote with no geographic restriction stated
  • Reviewers and preparers of workpapers are exactly the profile the ad describes
  • Twenty openings

Less good:

  • The ceiling is "up to $90/hour equivalent", and the ad does not say what decides where in the band you land
  • Roughly ten hours per task is long; designing a gradable task and its reference files is slow, and a task that turns out ungradable may cost you the time
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, and you handle your own tax
  • The client is not named, and weekly hours and project length are not published

The process is screening questions, an AI interview, profile review and onboarding. The snapshot sets English at B2 advanced or C1 minimum, while the qualifications list says only strong written English.
