HR & People Operations Expert
What you'll do
You turn everyday HR work into benchmark tasks for AI systems. A task might cover payroll operations, workforce planning, applying a policy to an awkward employee case or running a lifecycle process, written up with realistic reference files and clear instructions. You then define grading criteria objective enough that two qualified reviewers would agree on the same output.
The tasks are meant to need judgment, not lookup. You build or source the supporting material yourself, such as policy documents, payroll reports, headcount data and employment agreements, and you flag any task that proves ambiguous or ungradable instead of submitting it.
What you need
- 5+ years of hands-on responsibility in payroll, workforce planning, HR policy or employee lifecycle operations, as direct owner rather than supervisor or adjacent
- Experience creating or applying structured standards: HR policies, payroll checklists, process documentation, compliance frameworks or training assessments
- Comfort working across spreadsheets, reports and policy documents at once
- Strong written and spoken English, B2 minimum and C1 preferred
Nice to have
- An HR certification such as SHRM, CIPD or PHR (a plus, not required)
- AI or LLM evaluation experience (a plus, not required)
What it pays
micro1 states $45–90/hour, described in the snapshot as "up to $90/hour equivalent" with about ten hours per task. The ad gives no per-task fee and does not say how the hourly equivalent is worked out, so plan around the lower end.
Worth knowing
Good:
- No prior AI experience is needed; the ad says domain knowledge is what matters
- Fully remote with no geographic restriction stated
- Payroll and policy people get a use for edge-case knowledge that is rarely rewarded in ordinary HR roles
- Twenty openings
Less good:
- The ceiling is "up to $90/hour equivalent", and the ad does not say what decides where in the band you land
- Roughly ten hours per task is long; designing a gradable task and its reference files is slow, and a task that turns out ungradable may cost you the time
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, and you handle your own tax
- The client is not named, and weekly hours and project length are not published
The process is screening questions, a role-specific AI interview, profile review and onboarding.
