What you'll do
You apply what you are learning in law school to training data for AI. You review and annotate U.S. legal documents, draft and refine legal content for model training and evaluation, run cite-checking and Bluebook formatting, and write plain explanations of nuanced legal reasoning. You also check the legal accuracy of the content you are given and suggest improvements to the project guidelines.
It is remote work for a customer project, coordinated with project stakeholders in writing and by voice.
What you need
- Based in the United States, with solid knowledge of U.S. legal systems, research methods and writing conventions
- Enrolled in a U.S. law school; J.D. holders and U.S.-based lawyers or paralegals are also encouraged to apply
- Law review or legal journal editing experience, which the ad lists as required for law students
- Exceptional Bluebook proficiency and cite-checking skill
- Ability to explain complex legal issues concisely
Nice to have
- Attendance at or a degree from a T14 law school
What it pays
micro1's listing states $50–80 per hour. The ad does not say whether pay is hourly or per task, and it does not state a payment schedule, so ask during onboarding. Study hours and exam periods matter here: the ad does not state a minimum weekly commitment.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Ten openings, flagged as high demand
- Open to students, not only qualified lawyers
- Fits around a course load if the work is task-based, which you would need to confirm
Less good:
- The law review editor requirement is a real filter for students
- U.S. residence is a hard requirement
- No hours or duration are stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, and you manage your own tax
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal and confirmed open on 22 October 2026. The $50–80/hour band, the U.S. location and the qualifications are its published text. micro1 also lists a similarly paid Bluebook role aimed at law students and recent J.D. graduates; read both before applying.
