Civil Engineering Expert

Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

You create civil engineering problems with full reference answers, write the rubrics used to grade them, and evaluate AI-generated calculations, designs and specifications against each other. For every comparison you explain which answer is better and why, and where a model's reasoning breaks you document the error and suggest a stronger response.

The ad lists structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, transportation, water resources and construction as example areas, so a specialist in one of them is not obviously expected to cover all five. Answers are checked against relevant standards and codes where applicable. Calibration and review sessions are part of the job, and the work is remote.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, plus either a Master's or PhD or 4+ years of professional experience
  • Solid design or analysis experience and the ability to read technical drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of the design codes and standards relevant to your area
  • Excellent written English
  • Preferred: PE or chartered status, structural or GIS software experience, and technical report or training-material writing

What it pays

Rex.Zone's listing states USD $70–115 per hour, "adjusted by country of residence". The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply where you live. The listing gives no payment method or payout schedule; the Rex.Zone company page covers what is known. The range is wide (a $45 spread), and the ad does not say what decides where in it a given expert lands.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A broad scope: five sub-disciplines are named, so several specialities can fit
  • A high ceiling for an engineering evaluation role
  • No location restriction in the ad

Less good:

  • Codes and standards differ by country, and the ad does not say which jurisdiction's codes the problems follow
  • Pay depends on your country of residence by a method Rex.Zone does not publish
  • Confidential or employer-owned material cannot be submitted, and submissions can be rejected or removed
  • Weekly hours and task volume are not stated
