DevOps Engineer
Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted
What you'll do
You test whether AI models can do infrastructure work. You build and validate infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tasks (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) with reference solutions, then evaluate AI-generated configurations, scripts and pipelines for correctness, security and maintainability. You reproduce and diagnose deployment and reliability problems and write step-by-step solutions, review model advice on monitoring, incident response and cloud architecture, and write automated checks that verify answers. Written feedback on common failure patterns closes the loop.
This is the only operations-flavoured role among Rex.Zone's software roles, and it has the widest pay band: $50 to $150 an hour. The ad does not say what decides where you land. Work is remote contract with calibration and review sessions.
Who fits
- A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years in DevOps or site reliability engineering
- Strong Linux, Docker and CI/CD experience (for example GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins)
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform or similar) and Kubernetes fundamentals
- Fluent written English
Preferred, not required: a cloud certification (AWS, GCP or Azure), Kubernetes in production, and security hardening and observability experience.
What it pays
The listing states $50–150 an hour, the widest band among Rex.Zone's software roles.
Rex.Zone's listing states USD $50–150 per hour, "adjusted by country of residence". The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply everywhere, and where an offer lands in the range is not published. Payment terms are not published on the listing.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Open worldwide, with no country restriction stated
- A $150 ceiling, matching the machine learning role
- Real-world infrastructure skills are the product, not a side requirement
Less good:
- Pay is adjusted by country of residence and the ad does not explain how
- Verified-users-only applications and an entry exam come before any paid work
- The ad states no hours or volume, so how much work you get is unknown
- Contractor agreement terms on ownership and licence are still marked as to be confirmed by Rex Legal
- A $100 spread with no stated rule for where you land, on top of the country adjustment
- Submissions cannot include confidential or proprietary material from an employer or client
