Mechanical Engineering Expert
Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted
What you'll do
You write mechanical engineering problems that a working engineer would recognise, each with a complete reference answer, and then you grade what AI models make of them. The rubrics you write are meant to separate professional judgment from textbook recall, and you compare pairs of model answers (calculations, designs, specifications) and explain which is better and why. When a model reasons badly, you document where and propose a better response.
The ad names statics and dynamics, thermal and fluid systems, stress analysis, manufacturing processes and reliability as the areas covered, and asks you to check answers against standards and codes where they apply. The work is remote and project-based, with calibration and review sessions to keep graders consistent. The ad does not state weekly hours.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, plus either a Master's or PhD or 4+ years of professional experience
- Solid design or analysis experience, and the ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of analysis tools such as CAD, FEA or CFD
- Excellent written English, since the deliverable is written reasoning
- Preferred: PE or chartered (CEng) status, rubric or training-material writing, ASME or ISO familiarity, SolidWorks or ANSYS
What it pays
Rex.Zone's listing states USD $80–105 per hour, "adjusted by country of residence". The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply where you live. The listing gives no payment method or payout schedule; the Rex.Zone company page covers what is known. Among Rex.Zone's engineering evaluation roles this is the narrowest band, with a higher floor than the CAD roles and a lower ceiling than the electrical and CAD Expert ones.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A stated hourly range, so you can compare it before applying
- Work that uses engineering judgment rather than data entry
- Open to any country, with no location restriction in the ad
Less good:
- Pay is adjusted by country of residence and the method is not published
- Identity and credentials may be verified, and Rex.Zone may reject or remove submissions
- You cannot submit anything covered by an employer or client confidentiality agreement, which limits which of your past problems you can reuse
- Task volume and weekly hours are not stated
About this listing
Read on Rex.Zone's expert portal on 29 October 2026; the pay, requirements and duties are Rex.Zone's own text. The portal marks its listings as open to verified users only, and the ad does not name the end customer. See Rex.Zone.
