Biochemist
What you'll do
You check AI biochemistry for correctness and write the version that is right. The ad lists the topics: molecular mechanisms, pathways, enzyme kinetics, protein structure, metabolism, genetics and laboratory methods. You rank competing model responses, write prompts and model answers, and look for hallucinated mechanisms, wrong pathway directions, flawed calculations (units, concentrations) and unsafe lab advice.
It is explanation-heavy rather than bench work. Most of what you produce is a corrected answer with the reasoning visible.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree or higher in biochemistry, molecular biology, biology, chemistry, biotechnology, biomedical sciences or pharmacology, or equivalent professional experience
- Three or more years in biochemistry research, laboratory work, teaching, tutoring, scientific writing or life-science QA
- Deep understanding of proteins, enzymes, metabolism, nucleic acids, lipids, cell signalling and biochemical techniques
- English at C1 or above
- Attention to terminology, reaction logic, units and protocol detail
Prior AI data training, scientific QA or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.
The role is open to applicants in 27 countries: Western Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. No Asian country is on the list.
What it pays
SME's listing says up to $85 an hour with no floor. That is above the Biologist role ($70) on the same board, which asks for far more academic credentials. The listing does not state how or when you are paid; the company page covers SME's Deel payout cycle.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Higher ceiling than the Biologist role, with a lower credential bar (no peer-reviewed publication or top-100 university needed)
- Degree-equivalent professional experience is accepted
- Scientific safety is part of the brief
Less good:
- Only Western countries are eligible, so applicants in Asia are excluded
- Up to $85 is a ceiling
- The ad does not say how much work to expect
About this listing
Posted on SME Careers (sme.careers), where SuperAnnotate hires subject matter experts, and read on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date.
