Labeling Jobs

Japanese Language Expert

What you'll do

You review Japanese output from AI models, rank competing answers and write model revisions. The ad leans on professional localization practice: MQM/LQA error thinking, CAT tools, termbases and translation memory, and fact-checking units, names and dates in localized text. Terminology, tone and cultural nuance for Japanese users are the main quality questions.

Who fits

  • Native or near-native Japanese and the locale conventions of Japan
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Japanese translation, linguistics, localization, communications or related
  • 5+ years of professional localization or translation work
  • Minimum C1 English
  • Working knowledge of MQM/LQA and CAT tools

What it pays

The ad states up to $40 an hour, hourly. The Japanese team lead listing goes up to $55. The listing does not state payment terms; how SuperAnnotate pays (Deel contracts, weekly cycle) is on the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Rewards localization seniority
  • Mid-range ceiling compared with other language experts in this batch
  • Prior AI experience is preferred, not required

Less good:

  • Open to Japan-based applicants only
  • Five years of professional experience is a high bar
  • No immediate project

About this listing

The ad says there is no immediate project: qualifying puts you on the list SME contacts first when work arrives, so a successful application may not mean paid work straight away. The board gives no posting date and we have not seen the project guidelines. The hiring process and time-tracking rules are on the company page and not repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
