Mathematics Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)
What you'll do
You are the person who decides whether a mathematics answer is actually right. You review AI-generated explanations, proofs, derivations and word-problem solutions, check that each step follows from the last, and look for recurring error patterns such as skipped steps, invalid simplifications, wrong formulas and answers that are correct but badly justified. You also run the human side: Discord updates, onboarding calls, trainer follow-ups and documentation including calibration tasks. The ad describes the selection as an AI interview, a domain-specific task and a recruiter interview.
Who fits
- A bachelor's, master's or PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, mathematics education or a close field
- 3+ years in mathematics, teaching, tutoring, research, quantitative analysis, technical writing, curriculum or assessment design, or math-content review
- Strong command of core topics from algebra to proofs, probability and differential equations
- Strong English for clear mathematical feedback
- Native fluency in Punjabi, which is the last line of the requirements list
The Punjabi line stands alone and is not explained in the ad, so check with the recruiter whether it is required. Tools such as LaTeX, Python or Mathematica are preferred, and leading remote teams is strongly preferred.
What it pays
The ad says up to $75 an hour, which is $5 above the Mathematics Specialist role. That is a ceiling and the ad does not state a typical rate. Payment terms and the hiring process are covered on the company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A high ceiling for a role that rewards rigorous checking
- Calibration and honeypot design is distinctive QA work
- Open to a wide range of quantitative degrees
Less good:
- Eligible only in India and the United States
- The Punjabi line is unexplained and may restrict the pool
- Coordination and chasing inactive contributors is part of the job
