Urdu Language Expert
What you'll do
You review AI-written Urdu and write gold-standard answers across general knowledge, customer support, education, translation, localization and culturally sensitive content, then rank AI output on fluency, meaning, tone and register consistency.
What distinguishes Urdu in the ad is script and variety: Nastaliq conventions, right-to-left formatting, Pakistan versus India Urdu, formal and literary versus conversational, and Urdu-English code-switching. It also asks you to catch incorrect gender and verb agreement and overly Persianized or Arabicized wording.
What you need
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics, Urdu or English Literature, Communications, Journalism or Translation, or equivalent professional experience
- Native or near-native Urdu, reading and writing
- English at C1 or above
- 3+ years in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism or education
- Deep command of Urdu grammar, spelling, punctuation and script conventions
- Comfort with several registers and varieties
Nice to have
- Earlier AI data training, translation, editorial or localization QA, or rubric-based evaluation
Where it is open
Applicants must be in India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates, which covers the main Urdu-speaking labor markets and the Gulf.
What it pays
SME Careers lists this role at up to $15 an hour. That is a ceiling, not a rate: the ad does not say what a typical contractor earns, or how hours are allocated. It does not state payment terms either; SuperAnnotate's general process (Deel contracts, a paid bootcamp, tracked hourly work) is covered on the company page. This ties the Tamil Expert listing for the lowest ceiling among the language roles here, and the Urdu Team Lead listing goes up to $30, twice as much.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Gulf-based Urdu speakers are eligible, not only South Asia
- Equivalent experience can replace the degree
- Script and variety knowledge is valued
Less good:
- Up to $15 is a low ceiling for 3+ years of experience
- No hours or start date are stated
- Monitored hourly work, per the company page
About this listing
Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long the role has been open. The interview, onboarding and time-tracking process is on the company page rather than repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
