Urdu Team Lead
What you'll do
The Urdu team lead (QAL) keeps Urdu training data accurate and consistent. You spot-check items, give trainers and QAs feedback, escalate recurring problems and handle questions on wording, register, translation fidelity and script.
The ad adds script-level duties: Nastaliq conventions, right-to-left formatting problems and Pakistan versus India usage. You also run onboarding calls, post Discord updates, maintain style guides and trackers, and nudge inactive contributors. The ad says selection involves an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter.
What you need
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Urdu, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, QA or a related field
- Native or near-native Urdu with strong reading and writing
- Good English for guidelines and feedback
- 3+ years in Urdu writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training or annotation
- Strong grasp of Urdu grammar, tone, register and script conventions
- Comfort with Pakistan Urdu, India Urdu, and formal and conversational usage
Nice to have
- Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers or QAs
- AI training, annotation or rubric-based LLM QA experience
Where it is open
Applicants must be in India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates.
What it pays
SME Careers lists this role at up to $30 an hour. That is a ceiling, not a rate: the ad does not say what a typical contractor earns, or how hours are allocated. It does not state payment terms either; SuperAnnotate's general process (Deel contracts, a paid bootcamp, tracked hourly work) is covered on the company page. This is double the $15 ceiling on the Urdu Language Expert listing, the biggest lead premium in this batch.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Largest pay step-up from expert to lead in the batch
- Gulf-based applicants are eligible
- Builds QA leadership experience
Less good:
- Three-stage selection
- Management chores such as chasing inactive contributors
- The ceiling is not a guaranteed rate
- Hours and project size are not stated
About this listing
Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long the role has been open. The interview, onboarding and time-tracking process is on the company page rather than repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
