Weapons Systems Operator
What you'll do
The focus here is equipment and procedure rather than strategy. You evaluate AI-generated scenarios involving air defense, missile systems, naval weapons or tactical aviation, and judge whether the weapons employment decisions and mission procedures are realistic.
Your written feedback calls out unrealistic assumptions, technical inaccuracies and operational errors, and checks alignment with ROE and LOAC. The work is remote and contract-based.
What you need
- Current or former military weapons systems operator with hands-on experience in air defense, missile operations, naval combat systems or tactical aviation
- A strong understanding of weapons employment, tactical decision-making and military operational procedures
- The ability to explain complex technical and military ideas in writing
Nice to have
- Experience on platforms such as Patriot, THAAD, Aegis, NASAMS or comparable systems
- Operational deployments, live-fire experience or time as a weapons instructor
What it pays
micro1's listing states $40–80 per hour for this role, the same band it shows on its other defense and military evaluation postings. The skills list is the longest of the six, at fourteen items, which reflects the technical writing and system-specific knowledge the role leans on. The ad does not say whether pay is hourly or per task, how many hours a week are on offer, or how the rate within the band is set. Payment method and schedule are not published on the listing.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Rewards system-level operator knowledge that few evaluation projects can use
- The named platforms show the kind of expertise micro1 has in mind
- 10 openings, remote
Less good:
- Only a fit if you have actually operated these kinds of systems; general military service is not what the ad describes
- No published hours or task volume
- Technical accuracy is the whole job, so expect to be held to it
