Egocentric Video Data Collector: Canada (Insta360 X5 Required)

Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

You wear an Insta360 X5 on your head and record continuous first-person video, about 10 minutes at a time, while you go about normal life in Canada. The ad lists cooking, cleaning, laundry, working or studying, shopping and errands, commuting and walking, gardening, drawing or playing music, and pet care as typical activities. It is explicitly not acting and not scripted: the aim is realistic footage from the wearer's own point of view, the kind of data used to train AI that has to understand daily human activity.

Canada's version of the Insta360 X5 first-person recording project pays $100/hour, the third highest of the six country versions. You film ordinary activity at home and outdoors with a head-mounted camera.

You also log basic information per recording (the activity and the setting), follow the camera setup instructions, record in eligible home, outdoor and sometimes commercial settings, and complete training and sample recordings before full production starts. The work is flexible and project-based.

What you need

  • Residence in Canada; the ad is limited to it
  • Your own Insta360 X5 (the ad calls it required)
  • Willingness to be recorded going about everyday routines and to follow the project's privacy, consent and data collection rules
  • Time to complete training and sample recordings first

What it pays

The ad states $100/hour, one figure with no range. For comparison, the same project pays $95 in the United Kingdom, $110 in Australia and New Zealand, $120 in Singapore and $40 in South Africa. The ad does not explain the differences, and it does not say how payment is made.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • $100/hour is far above the South African version and close to the top of the six
  • Everyday activities only; the ad says it is not acting and not scripted

Less good:

  • You need an Insta360 X5 before you start, and the ad does not say who pays for it
  • Training and sample recordings come before full production, so paid volume starts later than sign-up

About this listing

Posted on Rex.Zone's portal and read there on 29 October 2026. The activity list, camera requirement and rate are Rex.Zone's own text; the comparison with the other country versions is ours. Applications on the portal are open to verified users only and most roles ask for an entry exam; the company page explains how that works. See Rex.Zone.
