Attorney and Lawyer
What you'll do
You review how well AI models do legal analysis and write what a good answer looks like. The ad centres on issue spotting and the structure rules, application, conclusion: you check whether a model identified the right issue, applied the rule accurately, handled assumptions and uncertainty, and avoided sounding more certain than the law allows. Where a task requires citations, you fact-check them.
You also produce gold-standard material: issue analyses, drafting examples, checklists, policies and memos. The ad flags confidentiality risks and jurisdictional pitfalls as things models get wrong.
Who fits
- A JD, LLB or equivalent law degree plus active bar membership or eligibility in at least one jurisdiction
- Five or more years practising law, in a firm, in-house, government or legal aid
- Experience in one or more practice areas such as contracts, employment, privacy, corporate, litigation, IP, real estate or compliance
- Research skill with primary authority: statutes, regulations and cases
- Strong drafting and editing, and English at C1 or above
Prior AI data training, legal QA, editorial review or knowledge management is strongly preferred.
The role is open to applicants in 39 countries, mostly Western Europe plus South and Southeast Asia, with Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States also on the list.
What it pays
SME's listing says up to $120 an hour with no floor. That is the highest ceiling among the roles in this batch, above the Android role ($110) and the Astronomer expert role ($100). The listing does not state how or when you are paid; the company page covers SME's Deel payout cycle.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Highest ceiling in this batch
- Open to 39 countries, so a UK, EU or Asian bar qualification can count
- Practice area flexibility: any one area is enough
Less good:
- The ad does not say which jurisdictions' law the tasks cover, so check whether yours is in demand
- No immediate project; the ad says qualified applicants are contacted when work opens
- Up to $120 is a ceiling, not a typical rate; five years of practice is a high bar
About this listing
Posted on SME Careers (sme.careers), where SuperAnnotate hires subject matter experts, and read on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date. The duties, requirements and pay are SME's own text; the comparisons and commentary are ours. The interview, Deel contract, bootcamp and time tracking are covered on the company page rather than repeated here. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are among the first contacted when relevant work opens, which also gives access to future projects in the expert network.
