Labeling Jobs

Biologist

What you'll do

You read AI-generated biology answers and judge whether the reasoning is right, not only the facts. The ad covers human and animal biology, molecular pathways, physiology, disease and health fundamentals, and laboratory reasoning. You fact-check from public sources, rank responses by biological correctness, and write the explanations and model solutions that show a correct method.

The ad frames the aim as turning advanced theory into clear explanation, so how the answer is communicated matters as much as whether it is right.

Who fits

  • An MS or PhD in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology or a close life-science field, from a top-100 university as the ad words it
  • A peer-reviewed publication
  • Experience developing or critically reviewing complex biology content, such as problem banks, textbook sections or research notes
  • Confidence across human and animal biology, pathways, physiology and experimental reasoning
  • English at C1 or above with strong writing

Data labelling, RLHF or AI model evaluation experience is listed as a bonus. The ad does not state a minimum number of years.

The role is open in 17 countries, mainly South and Southeast Asia, with Brazil, Germany and the United States as the outliers.

What it pays

SME's listing says up to $70 an hour, no floor. That is $15 below the Biochemist role ($85) despite a much higher academic bar. The listing does not state how or when you are paid; the company page covers SME's Deel payout cycle.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Strong research credentials are directly useful and visible in the screening
  • Topic range is broad, so many biology specialties fit
  • Writing and explanation skill is rewarded

Less good:

  • The credential bar is the highest in this batch (graduate degree, top-100 university, publication)
  • Up to $70 is a ceiling, and the Biochemist role pays more for less
  • The ad notes no immediate project is available; you join a pool

About this listing

Posted on SME Careers (sme.careers), where SuperAnnotate hires subject matter experts, and read on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date. The duties, requirements and pay are SME's own text; the comparisons and commentary are ours. The interview, Deel contract, bootcamp and time tracking are covered on the company page rather than repeated here. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are among the first contacted when relevant work opens, which also gives access to future projects in the expert network.
