CBRN Specialist
What you'll do
You act as a safety reviewer for AI answers on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear subjects. The aim is to make models both accurate and careful: you check hazard classifications, exposure concepts, emergency guidance and public-safety framing, and you flag any response that would give operational help to someone with harmful intent, such as procedural detail, acquisition guidance or evasion tactics.
The work cuts both ways. You also write safe reference answers to benign questions so that the model stays useful without crossing the line, rank responses on safe handling and appropriate refusal, and escalate ambiguous or high-risk cases. This listing is about judging dual-use boundaries; it is not about producing technical detail on harm.
Who fits
- A degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, public health, toxicology, nuclear engineering, radiation science, emergency management, environmental health and safety, biosecurity or security studies, or equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years in CBRN safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous materials, biosafety, radiation safety, public health, EHS or defense and security analysis
- English at C1 or above, with careful written feedback
- Preferred: familiarity with biosafety levels, hazmat communication, radiation protection and incident reporting, plus AI safety or red-team review experience
The role is open in 31 countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and most European Union members.
What it pays
The board lists the range as 0 to 100 USD an hour. A zero floor reads as a missing lower bound, so treat $100 an hour as the ceiling rather than as a promised range. The ad does not state a payment method or schedule; SME's general terms are on the SuperAnnotate company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A top-of-range ceiling for safety expertise, level with the other $100 listings in this batch
- Work that directly shapes how models handle dangerous topics
- Broad geography compared with most SME roles
Less good:
- You will read sensitive and potentially disturbing material about weapons and hazards
- The zero floor and unspecified hours make earnings hard to predict
- Hourly work is tracked and only active time is paid
