Electrical Engineer
What you'll do
You test advanced language models on electrical engineering and write down where they go wrong. The ad's topic list is wide: circuit design and analysis, power systems, power electronics, controls, embedded and digital, EMI/EMC and safety, test and troubleshooting. Tasks involve realistic scenarios and calculations, reading AI-written prompts and step-by-step solutions, and checking the maths, units and assumptions.
Feedback has to be structured: factual errors, missing constraints, invalid modelling, incomplete reasoning, and above all unsafe recommendations. The ad stresses responsible practice, meaning electrical safety, compliance and real-world feasibility, and asks you to help set how models explain their assumptions and limits.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field; a master's, PhD, PE or Chartered status is strongly preferred
- 4+ years of professional work in an area such as power systems, power electronics, industrial controls, embedded systems, circuit design, RF, signal processing or instrumentation
- Command of circuit analysis, electromagnetics, signals and systems, control basics and safe practice (grounding, isolation, protection, EMC)
- Comfort with calculations, constraints and unit consistency
AI training, annotation or red-teaming experience is a strong plus, as is familiarity with SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, PCB design or lab instruments. The role is open to applicants in 17 countries across South and Southeast Asia, Brazil, Germany and the US.
What it pays
The ad states pay of up to $100 an hour. It gives no floor and does not say what decides where in that range an individual lands. The board tags the experience level as associate, but the ad itself asks for 4+ years, so read the bar from the requirements. The ad does not describe payment terms; SuperAnnotate's company page covers the Deel contract, paid bootcamp and monitoring software that apply across its hourly projects.
Worth knowing
Good:
- High ceiling for a remote hourly role
- Real engineering judgement is the product, not generic labelling
- Broad country list for a specialist role
Less good:
- The ad lists no skills tags and gives no hours, project length or start date
- Engineering degree plus 4+ years is a meaningful bar
- Hourly SME work is monitored with tracking software, per the company page
About this listing
Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026; no posting date is shown. Pay, countries and requirements are the ad's own. SME also lists an Electrical Engineer QA Lead role at up to $105 an hour for the US. See SuperAnnotate.
