English Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

What you'll do

You are the person who keeps an English-language project consistent. Trainers and QAs submit items; you spot-check them for accuracy, clarity, grammar, tone, formatting and rubric adherence, give feedback in direct messages and escalate recurring faults. You post guideline and workflow changes on Discord, answer contributor questions about edge cases, and message anyone who has stopped working to find out why.

Supporting that is documentation (style guides, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, onboarding material) and the onboarding and training calls you schedule yourself. Spotting recurring quality gaps and proposing process fixes is part of the brief.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's or master's in English, linguistics, communications, journalism, education or QA, or a related field
  • 3+ years in quality assurance, editing, content review, AI training, education or annotation
  • Strong command of English grammar, tone, register and written feedback
  • Organised and reliable across time zones, comfortable with Discord, Google Sheets and Docs

Experience leading remote reviewer teams is strongly preferred; AI training or rubric-based LLM QA is a plus. Open to US applicants only. The ad describes the selection process as an AI interview, a domain-specific task and an interview with a recruiter.

What it pays

The ad states pay of up to $35 an hour. It gives no floor and does not say what decides where in that range an individual lands. That is $10 above the English Language Expert role. The ad does not describe payment terms; SuperAnnotate's company page covers the Deel contract, paid bootcamp and monitoring software that apply across its hourly projects.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A clear step up in pay over the expert role
  • Role is about quality and people, a different skill set from line editing
  • Access to future projects through the expert network

Less good:

  • The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified candidates are among the first contacted when a relevant one opens, so this is a talent-pool listing rather than a seat with guaranteed work.
  • Lower ceiling than QAL roles in more technical fields
  • US only
