History Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)
What you'll do
The content under review is history written by or about AI models: explanations, timelines, comparisons and answers that rely on sources. You judge whether chronology holds, whether causation is sound, whether a contested interpretation is presented fairly, and whether a cited source is real. Trainers and QAs do the first pass; you spot-check, answer their questions on Discord and keep calibration tasks and examples up to date.
The ad also asks for a risk review: flagging overconfident, biased, culturally insensitive or anachronistic claims before they reach training data.
Who fits
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in history, classics, area studies, archaeology, humanities or a closely related field
- 3+ years in historical research, teaching, writing, editing, academic review, museum or archival work, or curriculum development
- Command of historical method, historiography and primary against secondary sources
- Strong English for written feedback
- A specialization (ancient, medieval, modern, military, economic and so on) is preferred
What it pays
The ad states up to $50 an hour, hourly, with no lower figure. The listing does not state payment terms; how SuperAnnotate pays (Deel contracts, weekly cycle) is on the company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A chance to be paid for historical judgment rather than generic content work
- Academic and teaching experience counts, not only industry experience
- Up to $50 an hour
Less good:
- Open to US-based applicants only
- No immediate project, so a pool place first and paid work later
- Leading and coaching remote reviewers is part of the role, and leadership experience is strongly preferred
About this listing
The ad describes a three-step selection: an AI interview, a domain task, and a recruiter interview. The ad says there is no immediate project: qualifying puts you on the list SME contacts first when work arrives, so a successful application may not mean paid work straight away. The board gives no posting date and we have not seen the project guidelines. The hiring process and time-tracking rules are on the company page and not repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
