Kannada Expert with Mathematical Background
What you'll do
You work in Kannada, checking what AI models write and writing the answers they should have written. That means grading outputs for grammar, spelling, tone, mistranslation and register (formal versus informal), fact-checking claims, producing rewrites and model answers, and ranking several responses against each other.
The unusual part is the degree line: the ad asks for a bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, rather than in languages. It does not explain why, so be ready for the content to lean toward mathematical or technical subject matter. Prompts also span general knowledge, customer support, education and conversational writing.
Who fits
- Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics
- Native or near-native Kannada, with reading and writing required
- English at C1 or above for guidelines and feedback
- 3+ years in writing, editing, localisation, translation, content QA, journalism, education or similar language work
- Deep command of Kannada grammar and spelling, and the ability to explain why something is wrong
- Comfort with registers and regional variation (Bengaluru standard versus dialect influence; India versus diaspora)
Nice to have
- Prior AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA or rubric-based evaluation (strongly preferred)
What it pays
The ad states up to $20 an hour, a ceiling rather than a fixed rate. The Kannada Team Lead variant with the same maths requirement lists up to $30. The listing does not publish payment terms; the process and payout details are on the company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Pairs a language skill with maths, a combination few applicants hold, which may mean less competition
- Open in five countries rather than one, including India and the US
- Creating gold-standard answers is more varied than pure review
Less good:
- Two demanding filters at once (a maths degree and native Kannada) with a $20 ceiling
- The ad is silent on why mathematics is required, so check the interview and task for what the content really is
- Hourly pay with time tracking
- Project availability is not stated on the listing
