Legal Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

What you'll do

The role supervises legal content quality. You check AI-generated legal explanations, research answers, contract analyses and compliance guidance for reasoning, jurisdictional awareness, citation handling and appropriate caution, and you review the trainers' and QAs' work too.

A specific safety duty: flagging content that could read as personalised legal advice, overconfident conclusions and hallucinated citations. Coordination work follows: Discord updates, answering questions on citations and source quality, chasing inactive contributors, onboarding calls and legal documentation. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are first in line when a relevant project opens, and the role gives access to future projects through the expert network.

Who fits

  • Bachelor's, JD, LLB, LLM or equivalent in law, legal studies, paralegal studies, compliance or public policy
  • 3+ years in legal practice, research, contract review, compliance, regulatory analysis, paralegal work, legal operations or legal writing
  • Strong grasp of issue spotting, statutory interpretation, case analysis and risk
  • Ability to catch unsupported conclusions, hallucinated citations and jurisdiction mismatches
  • Strong English

Nice to have

  • Contract review, memoranda, citation checking, legal databases or compliance checklists
  • Leading remote teams of trainers, lawyers or QAs (strongly preferred)
  • Legal content QA or LLM evaluation experience

What it pays

The ad states up to $120 an hour, a ceiling, $5 above the Legal Expert listing and equal to the Rubric Design role. The listing does not publish payment terms; the process and payout details are on the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Joint-highest ceiling in the legal group
  • Only 3 years of experience is stated
  • Paralegal and compliance backgrounds are accepted, not only attorneys

Less good:

  • US only
  • No project open yet
  • Leadership admin competes with review time
  • Monitored hourly pay
