Political Science Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

What you'll do

You lead quality on political science projects. You review AI explanations, comparative analyses, policy summaries, political theory discussions and institutional descriptions for accuracy and balance, and you review the trainers and QAs producing the training data. The ad lists oversimplification, ideological bias, unsupported claims, wrong institutional descriptions and misleading causal reasoning as faults to catch, and has a separate bias-and-risk duty to flag one-sided or politically inflammatory content. You also answer team questions, post guideline changes on Discord, chase inactive contributors, maintain style guides and calibration tasks, and run onboarding calls.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's, master's or PhD in political science, international relations, public policy, government, political theory, security studies, law, sociology, economics or a related field
  • 3+ years in research, teaching, policy analysis, public affairs, international relations, political writing or academic review
  • Working knowledge of institutions, comparative politics, international relations, public policy, electoral systems, governance and political behaviour
  • Strong English for guidelines and written feedback
  • Leading or supporting remote teams is strongly preferred
  • LLM evaluation, policy QA or fact-checking is a strong plus

Applicants must be in the United States.

What it pays

Up to $70 an hour on an hourly contract, per the ad, which is $5 above the Philosophy QAL listing from the same employer.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A remote outlet for policy and social science backgrounds, with adjacent degrees (law, economics, sociology) accepted
  • Bias review is part of the job description, not an afterthought
  • Remote and hourly

Less good:

  • The ad lists a selection process of an AI interview, a domain-specific task and a recruiter interview. The company page covers the wider hiring flow, Deel contracting and time tracking.
  • Political topics invite disagreement; expect rubrics to define what counts as balanced
  • US-only eligibility
