Philosophy Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)

What you'll do

You hold the quality line on philosophy projects. You review AI-written explanations, argument analyses, ethical reasoning, summaries of philosophers, logic problems and conceptual comparisons for accuracy and rigour, and you review the trainers and QAs who produce the training data. Typical faults the ad names are strawman arguments, invalid inference, conceptual confusion, oversimplification and misrepresenting a philosopher's view. Beyond reviewing, you answer team questions, post guideline changes on Discord, chase inactive contributors, maintain style guides, calibration tasks and honeypots, and run onboarding calls.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's, master's or PhD in philosophy, ethics, logic, political theory, humanities, religious studies, classics, cognitive science or a related field
  • 3+ years in philosophy research, teaching, writing, editing, academic or ethics review, or logic instruction
  • Working command of philosophical methods, logic, ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of mind and the history of philosophy
  • Strong English for guidelines and feedback
  • Leading or supporting remote teams is strongly preferred; formal logic, moral or analytic philosophy is a preferred area
  • LLM evaluation or rubric-based review is a strong plus

Applicants must be in the United States.

What it pays

Up to $65 an hour on an hourly contract, per the ad. The ad does not say how an individual rate is set.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A rare remote outlet for humanities graduates with teaching or research backgrounds
  • Pairs subject expertise with leadership, a combination reviewer roles lack
  • Remote and hourly

Less good:

  • The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are among the first contacted when work arises, so this is a place in an expert pool rather than a seat on a live project.
  • The ad lists a selection process of an AI interview, a domain-specific task and a recruiter interview. The company page covers the wider hiring flow, Deel contracting and time tracking.
  • US-only eligibility, and no reviewer-level philosophy listing in this batch to enter through
