Tax and Audit Expert

What you'll do

You check AI responses on tax and audit questions for technical correctness: tax treatment, compliance logic, audit planning and materiality, risk assessment, internal controls and the way those flow into financial statements. You write expert explanations and model solutions, and rank several responses by reasoning quality.

The ad lists content you may create: tax scenarios, audit programs, workpaper examples and control assessments. It also asks you to spot unsafe or noncompliant guidance. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role. If you qualify you are placed among the first experts contacted when a relevant project opens, so this is a waiting list for future work, not a start date.

What you need

  • A bachelor's or higher in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional tax and/or audit work in public accounting, advisory, internal audit or industry
  • Command of tax fundamentals for your own jurisdiction, such as taxable income adjustments, credits, withholding and VAT or GST
  • Command of audit fundamentals: planning, materiality, risk assessment, control testing and sampling
  • Ability to prepare or review clear, defensible workpapers
  • English at C1 or above, with a sharp eye for unsupported conclusions

Nice to have

  • CPA, ACCA, EA or CIA, or a local equivalent
  • SOX familiarity
  • Earlier AI data training, audit QA or tax technical writing

Where it is open

The ad lists 17 accepted countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. Your tax expertise should match the jurisdiction you work in, since the ad asks for rules 'relevant to your jurisdiction(s)'.

What it pays

SME Careers lists this role at up to $80 an hour. That is a ceiling, not a rate: the ad does not say what a typical contractor earns, or how hours are allocated. It does not state payment terms either; SuperAnnotate's general process (Deel contracts, a paid bootcamp, tracked hourly work) is covered on the company page. It is the highest ceiling among the ads in this batch; only the TypeScript Team Lead role comes close.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • High ceiling for work that uses professional accounting judgment
  • Open across 17 countries, including several where tax specialists are scarce
  • Credentials like CPA or ACCA count as a strong plus, so experienced practitioners are valued

Less good:

  • No project is open, so expect a wait
  • The $80 is a maximum; the ad does not say where a typical expert lands
  • Five years of experience is the floor
  • Monitored hourly work, as described on the company page

About this listing

Read from the SME Careers jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long the role has been open. The interview, onboarding and time-tracking process is on the company page rather than repeated here. See SuperAnnotate.
