What you'll do
This is the broad-practice version of micro1's legal reasoning project. Scenarios span litigation, corporate transactions and regulatory or compliance matters, and for each one you identify the legal issues, the risks and the governing principles, weighing competing interpretations where the law or the facts are ambiguous.
The other half is review. You read AI-generated legal analyses, arguments, contracts and other documents, and flag legal errors, unsupported conclusions, missing information and weak reasoning. Each review ends with clear, structured feedback and corrections that the customer uses to make the model's legal output more reliable.
The work is remote contractor work. Weekly hours and project length are not stated.
Who fits
- A J.D. from a US law school
- An active bar license in at least one US state or the District of Columbia
- More than three years of substantive post-J.D. practice
- Strong legal reasoning, issue-spotting, legal writing and document review
- Clear written English, close attention to detail, and comfort working independently
Any practice area qualifies; the ad lists litigation, corporate, commercial, employment, personal injury, criminal, family, immigration, insurance, IP, healthcare, securities, real estate, tax, privacy, environmental and regulatory law. Experience evaluating competing legal arguments is preferred, and familiarity with legal tech or AI evaluation is a plus but not required.
What it pays
$100–170/hour, micro1's published band. The ad does not say what places you within it or whether pay is hourly or per task.
How it differs from the other Lawyer listing
micro1's earlier Lawyer listing pays $80–180/hour, accepts a lapsed bar membership, asks for four years of document-heavy practice and centres on contract risk memos written for non-lawyers. This one needs an active license and US residence, sets the bar at three years in any practice area, and is about grading AI legal reasoning across scenario types. Specialists can also look at the same-band Tax Attorney, Employment Lawyer and Personal Injury Lawyer listings posted the same day.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 50 openings, flagged high demand
- Every practice area counts, including family, criminal and immigration work that legal AI projects often skip
- Three years post-J.D. is enough
- A narrower band than the older Lawyer listing, with a higher floor
Less good:
- An active license and US residence are both required; lapsed members do not qualify here
- No hours, project length or compensation structure published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
- The customer is not named; check your firm's outside-work rules before applying
