  • fixed income research
  • federal reserve policy

What you'll do

You bring macro research experience to an AI project on US economic data, monetary policy and financial markets. The tasks the ad lists: interpret GDP, inflation and employment releases, evaluate data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), work with historical datasets and data vintages such as ALFRED, analyse Treasury yield curves and rate expectations, and read Federal Reserve communications including FOMC statements, minutes and the Summary of Economic Projections.

The ad describes applying that expertise to "research and analytical tasks" without naming the exact deliverable, so expect to learn the task format at onboarding.

What you need

  • Professional experience in macroeconomic research, economic strategy, monetary policy or fixed income research
  • Strong understanding of US indicators and Federal Reserve policy
  • Familiarity with BEA and BLS releases, yield curve analysis and FOMC communications
  • Experience with economic datasets and historical data revisions
  • Must be based in the United States

Nice to have

  • Sell-side or buy-side macro strategy backgrounds
  • Former Federal Reserve or US Treasury economists
  • Fixed income or rate strategists with strong macro depth

What it pays

micro1's listing states $50–70 per hour for freelance or contract work. It does not state a payment schedule or whether pay is per task, so confirm the mechanism before you commit hours.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Ten openings for a specialist niche
  • Data-vintage work (ALFRED) is a specific skill that few annotation projects ask for
  • Remote and open to people from several adjacent backgrounds

Less good:

  • The band is modest next to what sell-side or buy-side macro roles pay
  • U.S. residence is a hard requirement
  • No weekly hours or project length are stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, and you manage your own tax
