Paid English Conversation Recording Study

What you'll do

You are matched with another participant and have a guided, role-based conversation about an everyday scenario. Before each session you receive a short brief with your role, the situation and your goals, and some details are visible only to you. Then you talk it through in your own words, responding in real time. It is explicitly not a scripted reading task, and no acting or voice-over experience is needed. Each session is about 20 to 30 minutes plus setup, recorded on Riverside from a quiet private room, and the recordings are voice data for AI projects.

What you need

• 18 or older and comfortable speaking English in natural conversation
• Comfort with your voice being recorded
• A laptop or desktop computer (phones and tablets cannot be used)
• Headphones, a stable internet connection and a quiet, private indoor room
• Ability to stay uninterrupted in that room for at least 30 minutes
• Availability for scheduled sessions with a partner
• Residence in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or New Zealand

What it pays

The ad states $20/hour, a single flat figure in US dollars. It does not say whether setup time is paid, how session time is counted, or how payment is made.

Worth knowing

Good:

• No experience needed, and the conversation is yours rather than a script
• Sessions are around half an hour, a manageable commitment
• Only your voice is recorded; the ad mentions no camera

Less good:

• Sessions are scheduled with a partner in advance, so you cannot choose your hours freely
• The $20 rate is flat and sits at the bottom of Rex.Zone's listed range
• Strict setup: computer only, headphones, and 30 minutes alone in a quiet room
