Finnish Team Lead

What you'll do

This is a lead role, not a reviewing seat. You oversee the people who write and check Finnish AI training data: spot-check their items, send feedback by direct message, escalate repeated or serious problems, and keep them aligned as guidelines change. When trainers go quiet you chase them, and you run onboarding and training calls for new contributors.

The language work is what makes it Finnish-specific. The ad names case endings, compounds and word order as the usual failure points, and asks you to handle both standard Finnish and selkokieli (simplified Finnish) when a project requires it. You also write and maintain the project documentation: style guides, trackers, FAQs, honeypots and onboarding material.

Who fits

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finnish, linguistics, translation, communications, journalism, English, education, QA or a related field
  • Native or near-native Finnish, plus English strong enough to give feedback and follow guidelines
  • 3+ years in Finnish writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education or annotation
  • Comfort judging Finnish against rubrics: mistranslation, literal phrasing, wrong case usage, inconsistent terminology
  • Strongly preferred: experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators or reviewers
  • Comfortable in Discord, Google Sheets and Docs and project trackers; prior LLM evaluation is a plus

What it pays

SME Careers lists this role at up to $55 an hour, with no floor stated. That is the top of the band, not a promise of where a new lead will start. The ad does not say how payment is made or how often; the hiring process and payout terms SME publishes are covered on the SuperAnnotate page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Finnish is a small market, so there are few people who can credibly lead quality in it
  • Leadership scope (documentation, onboarding, process) goes beyond reviewing items
  • The ad states a selection process up front: an AI interview, a domain task and a recruiter interview

Less good:

  • Open to Finland only
  • Hourly work on SME projects is tracked with monitoring software, and lead tasks (calls, DMs, chasing contributors) are hard to bill cleanly
  • A lead role depends on a Finnish project existing; the ad names no current client or volume

About this listing

Listed on SME Careers, the site where SuperAnnotate hires subject matter experts, and read from its jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we cannot say how long it has been up. Pay, duties and requirements are SME's own text; the commentary is ours. See SuperAnnotate.
