Korean Quality Assurance Lead (QAL)
What you'll do
You supervise Korean-language quality across a project. Beyond reviewing AI output, you spot-check the trainers' and QAs' work, send feedback by direct message, and keep contributors aligned on guideline changes through Discord.
The Korean-specific part is judgment on honorifics, speech level and register: formal versus informal Korean, product and UI localisation terminology, and what sounds natural to South Korean users. You also write the documentation, run onboarding calls and follow up with contributors who have gone inactive. The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are first in line when a relevant project opens, and the role gives access to future projects through the expert network. Selection runs through an AI interview, a domain-specific task and a recruiter interview.
Who fits
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Korean, linguistics, translation, communications, journalism, English, education, QA or a related field
- Native or near-native Korean, strong in reading and writing
- Strong English for guidelines and feedback
- 3+ years in Korean writing, editing, translation, localisation, content QA, AI training or annotation
- Strong grasp of grammar, honorifics, speech levels, tone and register
- Ability to apply rubrics and spot incorrect honorifics, literal phrasing and hallucinated claims
- Based in South Korea (listing is open to KR only)
Nice to have
- Experience leading remote teams of trainers, annotators or QAs (strongly preferred)
- AI training or rubric-based LLM QA background
What it pays
The ad states up to $45 an hour, a ceiling. That is $5 above the Korean Language Expert and Korean Document Annotation Expert listings (both up to $40), the premium for the lead scope. The listing does not publish payment terms; the process and payout details are on the company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Highest ceiling of the three Korean listings in this batch
- Honorific and register judgment is a skill natives rarely get paid for
- A selection task tests the work before you commit
Less good:
- No immediate project, so the offer may not turn into hours soon
- Only 3 years is required but leadership experience is strongly preferred, so the real bar is higher
- South Korea only
- Monitored hourly work
